How to improve your front door security – Extra Measures
Just like all of our posts in this series, this is a quick note before we start: There is no definite way to keep burglars out, only ways to prevent them from doing so. At AssuredEntry we have put together a little guide on how to hinder, discourage and put off potential burglars from entering your Henley based home or business. This is the fifth and final post in a series of 5, where we go into the top 5 tips to keep your home safe – Front Door Security –Extra Measures
Have you already done everything mentioned already? Have you removed all the windows from your front door? Have you installed a deadlock?
Congratulations, your home is now safer!
However, there are still other things that you can do to make your home safer. Here are just a few more things to do:
- Install a door chain, this provides protection for when you are in the house. This could prevent burglars from getting in at night, whilst you and your family are asleep.
- Add a letterbox guard. This stops a burglary method called ‘Fishing’. This is when a thief inserts a long wire through the letterbox and hooks your keys if they are positioned near the door.
- Install a security light that points at your front door. Not only will it help you in dark winter nights, but it will also act as a deterrent to potential burglars. Burglars love the cover of darkness, so a big bright light shining in their face may scare them away.
- It’s also worth installing a security camera, real or fake at your front door; this is a good way to deter a potential burglar. If they can see a camera pointed at them, they are not going to risk breaking in and it’s doubtful they will spend the time trying to find out if it’s real or fake.
As mentioned before, even if you do everything mentioned in this blog post or previous ones, it will not guarantee that burglars will keep away, however, it will go along way to deterring them from trying.
